De kers op de taart, voor de kinderen, door de ouders.
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
We are Bart, Jeroen, and Jordi, and together we form the Parent Committee (OC) of De Vuurvogel. During the first parent circles, we introduced ourselves. For those who couldn’t attend, we’ve summarized the key points below.
As the Parent Committee, we provide the figurative ‘cherry on top’ for school activities. While many activities are funded through the school budget, we support them with additional resources to make them even more enjoyable. Examples include decorations for Sinterklaas and Christmas, the school library, school swimming, and Carnival. The OC represents the different class groups. Each group has its own Class Parent, who acts as the right and left hand of the class teacher. This parent helps prepare for the parent circles and coordinates parent volunteers for various activities—many of which cannot take place without parental involvement. We value this participation highly, as it is one of the pillars of Jenaplan education.
This support is only possible thanks to the Voluntary Parent Contribution. Around mid-October, you will receive a message via SocialSchools with a request to make this contribution.
We primarily communicate through the Vuurvlieg, our weekly newsletter sent via SocialSchools. We kindly ask you to read it each week. You can also reach us via SocialSchools, on the school grounds, or through our website https://ocvuurvogel.nl or email bestuur@ocvuurvogel.nl. Please note that we only handle activities and parent involvement. For policy matters, we kindly refer you to the class teacher, school management, or the MR (Participation Council).
The OC meets four times a year. The final meeting (May 13, 2027) is the General Parent Meeting, where we discuss the OC’s financial documents, reflect on the past school year, and look ahead to the future. We would love to do this with as many parents as possible—after all, you know best what your children enjoy most. So please mark this date in your calendar. All meetings are open to everyone! Other meeting dates: September 15, 2026, November 9, 2026, and March 17, 2027.
Lastly, we’d like to point out that you can sync the SocialSchools calendar with your phone. After logging in, go to the calendar (bottom right icon), click the three dots at the top, and select ‘Subscribe.’ You’ll receive a link that you can add to your Google Calendar or iPhone Calendar App. This way, you won’t miss any important school dates.
